Volunteer Spotlight: Melissa McAllister

Hello, my name is Melissa
McAllister. As of May this year, I was fortunate enough to stay home full time
after the company I worked for as an accountant closed their doors. This new
found freedom has enabled me to take on a more active role with CCB. I enjoy
helping with home visits, fostering, arranging transport and assisting with
events when needed. I have 5 of my own dogs along with a cat named Chandler.
I have an American Bulldog named Lexus and four pibbles-Tessa, Winnie, Jax and
Maximus! They are all rescues from Statesboro, GA to Sanford, NC. Lexus is the
one who started my love for the bully breeds. However, Winnie is the
reason I found CCB and became a volunteer! I found her browsing Petfinder
and it was love at first sight! I began to follow (stalk is the more
appropriate word) her pictures on Facebook longing to make her mine! I got the
husband on board and adopted her. I began to foster 3 mos later.
Volunteering and advocating for such a wonderful but misunderstood breed has
become one of my passions. I have been very blessed to have a husband and three
teenagers who share that passion. I would never be able to do all I do without
them. I have a full and active household with my pack and multiple
fosters all under the age of three. I love it. There's never a dull moment and
I always have plenty of company! They are all so special and unique.
Being a volunteer, I have learned so much from everyone at CCB! The
volunteers are wonderful and although most of them juggle work, home, school,
children and their own pets you would never know it! I am proud to be part of
this organization!
